I love supporting local business, especially when “support” means downing delicious lattes. I am not a coffee snob, per se, but I do love a good cup. So I was thrilled to see that Koffi, the Palm Springs favorite, had opened their third location very close to the Biskra House. Even better, that location is also their roasting facility, the only specialty roaster in the Coachella Valley. Since freshness is the key to a delicious cup, Rancho Mirage visitors are in for a treat.
Owner John Strohm says they’re thrilled with their new location, and that its charming patio was a big draw. They roast 5 or 6 days a week, in small batches for maximum freshness. Most of their coffees are organic and fair trade. John is very friendly, so if you see him there be sure to say hello.
In the shop they serve mild and bold brewed coffee, and their espresso drinks are made with a choice of Milano-style light roast or Seattle-style dark roast. There is also a selection of non-coffee and tea drinks, both hot and iced. I hear great things about their mango and cream smoothie, and I can vouch for the green tea latte. Simple breakfast items are available, like oatmeal or bagel sandwiches, and some sweets.
They have wifi, plenty of outlets, and tables to spread out and read the paper. It’s a pleasant place to get some work done, if you must, or to meet a friend.
We hope you have a chance to visit Koffi when you’re in town, but you won’t have to go that far to try their delicious coffee. You’ll find a bag of their freshly ground blend in the kitchen when you arrive, and a fresh pint of half and half in the refrigerator.
Koffi is located at 71380 Hwy 111, just across the 111 from Desert European Motorcars. (760) 340-2444
